Daylight Worksheet - Software Installation

Prerequisite:: a software license

Choose one of the following:

1. Automated installation

   • as user root, execute dayinstall<version#>.root (e.g., dayinstall471.root)

   • as user thor, execute dayinstall<version#> (e.g., dayinstall471)

2. Manual installation

   • create Daylight administration account

   • create installation directory owned by Daylight administrator

   • unpack distribution from CDROM or WWW

   • set environment variables and run-time environment in a file named $HOME/.daylight

   • set environment upon login via $HOME/.login

   • test your license

   • define TCP/IP services

   • start servers at boot

   • configure Apache web server for Daylight web tools

   • start Apache web server at boot

3. NFS installation

   • create Daylight administration account

   • NFS mount remote filesystem
