Large Objects (LOBs)

• Three types of LOBS supported
  • Character LOB (CLOB)
  • Binary LOB (BLOB)
  • Binary File (BFILE)
• LOBs replace LONG and LONG RAW
• Multiple LOBs per table
• Stored inside or outside of database
• Piece-wise access of LOB data

LOBs can be stored in a separate tablespace or in operating system files
