Why SQL Sucks

• Humans aren’t good at boolean logic

  • Modern search systems require people to formulate questions in terms of AND’s, OR’s and NOT’s.
  • The human brain is not good at this (it’s an “impedence mismatch”)

• Humans are good at “serialized” questions

  • Ask one question, see the answer
  • Ask the next question, combine results with first answer
  • And so forth …
