Steps to Computer Configuration

1. Disable Services on a Daylight-owned computer

• Network File Services (NFS)
  
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/autofs stop ; /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 autofs off
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop ; /sbin/chkconfig -f autofs off ; /etc/rc.d/init.d/network start
  /etc/rc2.d/S74autofs stop ; /bin/mv /etc/rc2.d/S74autofs /etc/rc2.d/X74autofs

• Network Information Services (NIS)
  
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/ypbind stop ; /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 ypbind off
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop ; /sbin/chkconfig -f yp off ; /etc/rc.d/init.d/network start
  /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypstop ; /bin/cp /dev/null /etc/defaultdomain

2. Set Network Parameters

• Hostname (?)
  
  /etc/HOSTNAME (Linux 7.1 or lower) and /etc/sysconfig/network
  /etc/sys_id
  /etc/hostname.hme0 or /etc/hostname.le0

• IP address (207.225.60.?)
  
  /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
  /etc/hosts

3. Install and Test Software

• xvthor, xvmerlin, xvpcmodels
• Desktop Icons (netscape, xvthor, xvmerlin, xvpcmodels, etc.)
• Man Pages (man clogp)
• C Compiler (cd $DY_ROOT/contrib/src ; make)
