JavaGrins is a chemical editor in the Grins family.

• It is specifically a Java applet that is a chemically intuitive editor for Daylight's SMILES, and SMARTS chemical languages. In release 4.72, JavaGrins is SMILES & SMARTS capable.
• In Release 4.72, it runs only on Netscape 4.xx. While users like the SMARTS capability, since the applet doesn't run on Internet Explorer it has proven a problem to some of them. The applet spews out SMARTS or canonical SMILES for sketched structures.
• The applet uses a simultaneous use licensing model for which it communicates with a server running on the web server which administers the licensing.
