ABSTRACT

Everyone agrees that pharmaceutical companies need to integrate data and share knowledge if they are to develop new drugs efficiently and compete effectively. So why are they not persuing data integration more actively?

This paper examines the costs and issues associated with traditional consultancy led approaches to data integration and knowledge capture and presents an alternative collaborative approach to capturing the knowledge of data sources required for comprehensive data integration and knowledge management. The implications of this philosophy are explored.

An example implementation of such a system incorporating DayCart will be available for demonstration in the breakout sessions.
