We will be demonstrating the use of Daylight to perform the substructure and similarity searches. We use a Java Swing user-interface to pass search parameters into a J2EE application server (Novell exteNd) and ultimately query an Oracle 8i database. We use Daylight specifically to convert SMILES strings generated in a drawing tool (MarvinBeans) into canonical SMILES.
